Fiji Transit eVisa

Nadi International Airport sits at a key crossing point for flights moving between the Pacific, Australia, New Zealand, and connecting regions. Many international routes pass through Fiji, making it a natural stopover for travellers heading onward to their final destination.

If your itinerary includes a stop in Fiji before continuing elsewhere, you will need a Transit eVisa before you travel.

Conditions of the Transit eVisa

The Transit eVisa is a single-purpose authorisation that covers movement through Fiji solely to continue to your onward destination.

Permitted Activities on a Transit eVisa

  • Transiting through Nadi International Airport
  • Collecting and re-checking luggage where required
  • Accessing accommodation during an overnight layover
  • Moving between terminals or connecting facilities

What the Transit eVisa Does Not Permit

  • Tourism or sightseeing as a purpose of stay
  • Business meetings, conferences, or commercial activity
  • Employment or paid work of any kind
  • Long-term residence or settlement

If your plans in Fiji extend beyond transit, apply for the appropriate visa category either the Holiday Visitor Visa or the Business Visitor Visa before you travel.

Important: Confirm with your airline whether your luggage will be through-checked to your final destination or requires collection and re-checking in Fiji. If re-checking is required, you will need to exit the transit area and therefore require a Transit eVisa regardless of your nationality category.

Planning Your Transit

A 72-hour maximum stay covers most overnight connections. If your layover extends beyond airport hours or requires rest before your next flight, you may leave the airport on a valid Transit eVisa.

Book accommodation close to Nadi International Airport. Confirm your hotel's proximity to the airport and arrange transport in advance. Factor check-in and check-out times against your flight schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you remain airside within the international transit area and your luggage is through-checked, you may not require a Transit eVisa. This depends on your nationality. Confirm your specific requirement with your airline or the Fiji Immigration Department before travel.

Contact your airline immediately. If your delay extends beyond your Transit eVisa's permitted stay of 72 hours, notify Fiji Immigration. Overstaying without authorisation constitutes a visa breach.

No. The Transit eVisa covers transit purposes only. Tourism requires a separate Holiday Visitor Visa.

The eVisa must be obtained before travel. Do not arrive at Nadi without prior authorisation if your journey requires one.

The 72-hour limit applies per individual transit, not per visa. Each time you transit through Fiji, the 72-hour clock resets.

Your luggage handling arrangement may differ when connecting across airlines. Confirm directly with each carrier whether your bags are through-checked across the full itinerary or require collection and re-checking at Nadi.
