Fiji Business Visa Guide

Fiji welcomes business travellers for meetings, conferences, negotiations, and commercial engagements. The Business Visitor Visa covers short-term professional visits. It does not authorise employment or long-term residence.

Confirm your entry type, gather your documents, and apply before you travel. Arriving with the correct authorisation avoids delays at entry and protects your business schedule.

Business Etiquette in Fiji

Professional conduct in Fiji follows clear expectations. Observing these norms builds credibility and supports your business objectives.

Dress code

Formal business attire is standard in corporate and government settings. Dress conservatively and professionally for all meetings and engagements.

Relationship-building

Business in Fiji operates on trust and personal rapport. Allow time for introductions and conversation before moving into formal discussions. Rushing negotiations is generally counterproductive.

Respect and courtesy

Politeness is valued at every level of professional interaction. Address your hosts formally unless invited to do otherwise. Acknowledging seniority and hierarchy within organisations is important.

Punctuality

Arrive on time for scheduled meetings. If delays arise, notify your host as early as possible.

Gift-giving

Gift-giving is not a standard expectation in formal business settings. If you choose to bring a gift, keep it modest and professional.

Business Hours in Fiji

When scheduling meetings and appointments, plan around standard Fiji business hours.

Day Hours
Monday to Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Saturday to Sunday Closed for most organisations

Some offices observe a lunch break from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Confirm directly with your host organisation before scheduling midday appointments.

Government offices and statutory bodies may follow different hours. Verify schedules with relevant departments in advance.

Planning Your Business Trip

Scheduling Your Application

Apply for your visa well before your intended travel date. Processing takes 14-20 Working Days. Applying at least three weeks before departure gives you buffer time in case additional documents are requested.

Coordinating with Your Host

Confirm your meeting schedule, office addresses, and contact details before departure. Fiji's main business hub is Suva, the capital, with additional commercial activity centred in Nadi and Lautoka. Factor travel time between locations into your schedule.

Connectivity and Working Facilities

Major hotels and business centres in Suva and Nadi offer meeting rooms, conferencing facilities, and reliable internet connections. Confirm these arrangements directly with your accommodation provider.

Currency and Payments

The local currency is the Fijian dollar (FJD). International credit cards are accepted at most hotels and larger businesses. Carry some local currency for smaller establishments and transport.
